Slovan Bratislava enters Champions League amid Slovak football financial crisis

ŠK Slovan Bratislava is set to return to the UEFA Champions League league phase, facing a challenging schedule against clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, and VfB Stuttgart. Statistical models suggest a 9 percent chance of the club advancing to the knockout stages, with the team aiming to improve upon previous seasons under coach Yaya Touré.

Parallel to these sporting developments, the Slovak Football Association (SFZ) is facing a significant financial crisis. President Ján Kováčik reported a budget deficit of over four million euros caused by the state freezing a third installment of subsidies. Kováčik has criticized the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the chief sports auditor for actions he claims fall outside legal frameworks, noting that the association is forced to undergo difficult consolidation.
