Slovan Bratislava fans protest SFZ leadership amid Champions League preparations

During a recent derby match, supporters of Slovan Bratislava and Spartak Trnava directed intense criticism toward the Slovak Football Association (SFZ) and its president, Ján Kováčik. Slovan ultras displayed a large choreography featuring a caricature of Kováčik alongside the slogan “Rakovina slovenského futbalu” (Cancer of Slovak football), while chanting “Kováčik do basy!” (Kováčik to jail!). Trnava fans also joined the protest, chanting against the SFZ leadership. This unrest occurs as the association faces scrutiny regarding its financial situation and controversial guarantor obligations.

In European competition, Slovan Bratislava is preparing for a Champions League match against AS Roma at the Stadio Olimpico. AS Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini warned that his team must not underestimate the Slovak champions, describing them as a dynamic and well-prepared side. While Roma seeks a victory to stay in contention for the knockout stages, they will be without striker Paulo Dybala, who is expected to be sidelined for another two weeks due to a calf injury.
