Slovan Bratislava hosts VfB Stuttgart in Champions League clash

Slovan Bratislava is set to host VfB Stuttgart at Tehelné pole on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, for the second round of the UEFA Champions League league phase.

Slovan Bratislava, coached by Yaya Touré, enters the match seeking their first points in the competition following a heavy 6-1 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain. Despite their domestic dominance in Slovakia, the club has struggled in Europe, currently sitting 35th in the league phase table. Concerns have also been raised regarding the pitch quality at Tehelné pole, which was recently impacted by an Enrique Iglesias concert.

VfB Stuttgart, led by Sebastian Hoeneß, arrives in Bratislava looking to build on a successful start that included a 3-1 win over Viking FK. The German side is considered the favorite, with players like Angelo Stiller and Dennis Seimen expected to play key roles. Stuttgart aims to secure a victory to establish a strong position ahead of upcoming matches against Atletico Madrid, Galatasaray, and Inter Milan.

Historical data shows Stuttgart has held the advantage in previous encounters, including a 3-1 victory in January 2025. The match is expected to be a significant test for both clubs' European ambitions.
