Slovenia approves Tesla FSD Supervised system

Slovenia has become the sixth European country to approve Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised system. The Slovenian Agency for Traffic Safety (AVP) granted a temporary type approval based on a previous decision by the Dutch homologation authority, RDW. This approval allows the software to be used on Slovenian roads, joining countries such as the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, and Belgium.

Despite the name, the system is not fully autonomous. It requires constant driver supervision, with the operator remaining legally responsible for the vehicle. Users must keep their eyes on the road and hands near the steering wheel. In Slovenia, the FSD subscription is priced at 99 euros per month, with an initial two-month free trial period offered to eligible Model 3 and Model Y owners.

This temporary approval is granted under EU Regulation 2018/858, which allows for the recognition of new technologies before full European-wide standards are established. A formal EU-level vote on the approval of FSD Supervised is tentatively planned for October 2026. For the technology to be adopted across the union, it requires support from at least 15 of the 27 member states, representing 65 percent of the EU population.
