Slovenia authorizes Tesla FSD Supervised use

Slovenia has authorized the use of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised advanced driver-assistance system following the recognition of a temporary European Union type approval issued by the Netherlands. This decision makes Slovenia the sixth EU member state to permit the technology, joining the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, and Belgium.

The system is permitted to perform tasks such as lane changes, following navigation routes, and avoiding objects, but it requires active driver supervision and does not constitute fully autonomous driving. The Slovenian Traffic Safety Agency recognized the approval under Article 39 of EU Regulation 2018/858, which allows for the temporary approval of new technologies not yet fully covered by standard requirements.

The Dutch vehicle authority, RDW, remains responsible for overseeing the system and monitoring its safety performance. A broader EU-level approval process is expected to continue, with potential voting scheduled for late 2026.
