Slovenia climate trends highlighted by new Podnebnik platform

The Sledilnik community has launched Podnebnik, a new interactive platform designed to track climate trends in Slovenia. Utilizing data from 14 ARSO meteorological stations, the tool allows users to compare current minimum and maximum temperatures against historical averages dating back to 1950.

The platform highlights a clear trend of rising average monthly and annual temperatures in the region. By visualizing data, the tool demonstrates that above-average warm days are becoming more frequent and intense, suggesting that extreme temperatures are becoming a new reality rather than rare exceptions.

In conjunction with these climate shifts, safety remains a priority for outdoor activities in the mountains. Experts advise hikers to prepare for unpredictable summer storms by planning routes with the Mountaineering Association of Slovenia, carrying maps, and knowing how to respond to lightning strikes or getting lost.
