Slovenia expands trade ties with Arab markets amid economic concerns
The Arab-Slovenian Business Club (ASBC) has launched as a new international platform to connect Slovenian companies and investors with partners in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. The club aims to facilitate market entry through business consulting, strategic partnerships, and trade delegations. Key sectors for potential cooperation include finance, tourism, construction, digital technology, energy, and food security.
Separately, former Bank of Slovenia official Vera Mejak has expressed concerns regarding Slovenia’s current economic trajectory. While noting significant infrastructure progress since independence, Mejak highlighted challenges in public finance, productivity, and competitiveness. She noted that Slovenia has seen rising debt and high inflation compared to European peers, suggesting that prioritizing the repayment of outstanding obligations is essential for maintaining international financial credibility.
