Slovenia extends construction law debate as Czech Republic passes budget reforms

In Slovenia, the public consultation period for the draft Construction Products Act (ZGPro-2) has been extended until September 15, 2026. The extension was implemented to ensure transparency following technical difficulties caused by a transition to a new information system. The new legislation aims to implement EU Regulation 2024/3110/EU, introducing requirements such as increased documentation digitalization, strengthened product compliance oversight, and digital product passports.

In the Czech Republic, new legislative amendments have been passed regarding public budgets. These changes transpose EU Directive 2011/85/EU and adapt the national legal framework to EU Regulation 2024/1263 concerning economic policy coordination. The amendments affect various laws, including those related to the Supreme Audit Office, defense financing, and labor. Notably, the legislation allows the government to exceed approved annual state budget expenditures by up to 10% through a government budgetary reserve to respond to security threats. The law was passed after being vetoed by both the Senate and the President, with the Chamber of Deputies ultimately overriding those vetoes.
