Slovenia faces major traffic delays and motorway closures

Slovenia is experiencing significant traffic disruptions due to a combination of serious accidents and seasonal holiday travel. The Primorska motorway is completely closed in the direction of Koper between Unce and Ravbarkomanda following a severe traffic accident. A helicopter was deployed to the scene, and long delays have formed. Motorists traveling toward Koper are advised to use the Logatec-Razdrto detour.

Broad congestion is also affecting other major routes across the country. The Karavanke tunnel is experiencing intermittent closures by the Austrian operator Asfinag to manage traffic flow, causing delays on both sides of the tunnel. Significant queues have been reported in the Gorenjska region between Lesce and Bled, as well as on the western Ljubljana bypass.

Additional delays are noted on the Štajerska motorway near the Šentilj border crossing and on the Dolenjska motorway. Authorities attribute much of the increased volume to the conclusion of holidays, with heavy traffic expected through September, particularly from Croatia toward Austria and Italy.
