Slovenia proposes new law to improve healthcare accessibility
The Slovenian Ministry of Health has submitted a new legislative proposal to public debate aimed at increasing accessibility to healthcare services. The law seeks to ensure that patients receive necessary medical treatment more quickly and are not left without support by the system.
Under the proposal, the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia (ZZZS) would take a more active role in helping patients find personal physicians, pediatricians, or gynecologists. The plan includes utilizing existing public network capacities more effectively and allows for the transfer of unfulfilled contracted programs to providers with available capacity.
To support medical staff, the proposal includes measures to reduce administrative burdens, allowing healthcare workers to spend more time with patients. Additionally, the law aims to extend incentives for specializing in family and emergency medicine and provides for the operation of additional family medicine clinics.
