Slovenia fuel prices expected to decrease from Tuesday

Fuel prices in Slovenia are expected to decrease starting Tuesday following a drop in Brent crude oil prices, which fell below $80 per barrel due to more favorable news from the Middle East.

According to assessments by the Ministry of Finance, if tax rates remain unchanged, diesel and heating oil are projected to drop by approximately 12 cents per liter. Diesel could fall from its current price of €1.882 to around €1.76, while heating oil could decrease from €1.494 to €1.37. A smaller reduction is expected for 95-octane gasoline, which may drop by about 7 cents to roughly €1.50 per liter.

The Ministry noted that significant daily market fluctuations and euro-to-dollar exchange rate shifts could cause deviations from these estimates. The actual relief may be less if the government decides to increase excise duties. The Slovenian government has recently requested permission from the European Commission to temporarily reduce excise taxes below EU minimum levels if necessary to alleviate fuel price increases.
