Katarina Obranovič O’Dell, head of the national program, said the federation is pleased to “invest important financial support” for the youth categories.
Meanwhile, the town of Kamnik will host the European Mountain and Trail Running Championships from 4‑7 June. The event will attract about 640 competitors and officials from 33 European nations. Races include a mountain run on Velika Planina, a 52‑km trail race and shorter 25‑km and technical courses. The championships will be supported by the Atletska zveza Slovenije, the European Athletics Association and 500 volunteers, with the President of Slovenia, Dr Nataša Pirc Musar, attending. The programme also features cultural activities, local cuisine and a mascot – a mammoth.
