Slovenia launches hazardous and bulky waste collection campaigns

Waste management authorities in Slovenia are launching autumn collection campaigns for bulky and hazardous household waste to protect the environment and public health.

In the Koroška region, municipalities including Slovenj Gradec, Mislinja, Dravograd, Črna na Koroškem, Ravne na Koroškem, Prevalje, Radlje ob Dravi, Muta, Podvelka, Vuzenica, and Ribnica na Pohorju will participate in bulky waste collection. Several of these locations will also host hazardous waste collection points. Note that Slovenj Gradec, Mislinja, and Dravograd will not collect hazardous waste this autumn as they held a collection event in May.

Komunala Slovenska Bistrica is also organizing a hazardous waste collection via mobile collection points. Accepted items include unused cosmetics, pesticides, cleaning agents, batteries, oil filters, medicines, silicones, sprays, solvents, motor oil, and contaminated packaging. Residents are instructed to keep items in their original, tightly sealed containers to prevent leaks and chemical reactions. Specific protocols apply to medicines and liquids, and needles must be stored in hard, puncture-proof containers.
