Slovenia leads export growth in Central and Eastern Europe
Slovenia is leading export growth among Central and Eastern European countries, according to analysts from the international group Coface. This surge is driven by increased demand from Germany and the expansion of new pharmaceutical production capacities.
Slovenia's real GDP grew by 5.0 percent in the second quarter of this year compared to the same period last year, following a 3.2 percent increase in the first quarter. For the first half of the year, annual GDP growth stood at 4.1 percent. This represents a significant improvement from last year's 1.5 percent growth.
Goods exports, which declined by 0.7 percent last year, rose by 6.5 percent in the second quarter of this year, marking the highest growth rate in seven quarters. Additionally, manufacturing value added increased by 4.3 percent year-on-year. Analysts suggest this export growth is part of a regional turnaround fueled by German demand and interconnected European supply chains.
