Slovenia Ministry develops new 10-year national housing program

The Slovenian Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning is developing a new national housing program resolution intended to span the next 10 years. The initiative aims to create a comprehensive housing policy that improves accessibility for various population groups through multiple methods.

While the construction of new public rental housing remains a central pillar, the program will also focus on the purchase and renovation of existing properties. Key objectives include activating the existing housing fund, increasing security for both tenants and landlords, securing land for construction, improving access to financing, and accelerating housing projects.

The ministry also intends to address the issue of vacant housing by implementing measures that positively encourage its activation, such as renovating the public rental service. The final resolution is expected to be more transparent and result-oriented, with a goal for adoption by the end of 2027.
