Slovenia observes local traditions and International Bat Night

In Slovenia, local traditions and environmental awareness are being highlighted through various community events. In Jamnik, the traditional 'semanji dan' was celebrated at the Church of St. Primus and Felician. The event, which includes the villages of Podblica, Nemilje, and Njivica, features religious services, musical performances by the St. Tilna Besnica Mixed Choir, and social gatherings to preserve local heritage.

Simultaneously, Slovenia is participating in the International Bat Night during the final weekend of August. Coordinated by Eurobats, the initiative aims to educate the public on bat biology and habitat protection. Activities across the country, including in Ljubljana, Maribor, and Bled, feature lectures, photographic exhibitions, and guided walks. The current focus for 2026 and 2027 is the Leisler's bat, highlighting the importance of bats as natural pest controllers and the threats they face from habitat loss.
