Slovenia political landscape faces scrutiny over communication and land sales
Slovenia is entering a period of intense political activity involving local elections and a legislative referendum regarding intervention measures. The upcoming referendum has divided the political landscape, with government supporters viewing the measures as essential for development, while opponents argue they could undermine vital social systems.
Reports have emerged regarding the use of a closed Viber group by the SDS party, containing approximately 700 supporters. Allegations suggest that a public employee in the Prime Minister's cabinet has been directing content within this group during working hours. The group has reportedly shared partisan content, including links to public social media posts and targeted commentary against political figures such as Janez Markeš.
Additionally, Katja Kokot, leader of the Resnica parliamentary group, has raised concerns regarding potential double standards within her own party. Her comments follow a video involving Zoran Stevanović, President of the National Assembly, regarding the acquisition of a donor to purchase municipal land in Kranje for an Orthodox church. Kokot expressed opposition to the sale of Slovenian land to foreign entities.
