Slovenia prepares for school year start and parental leave rights

As the new school year approaches in Slovenia, educational institutions and labor unions are issuing guidance for families. Kungota Primary School has announced its readiness for the September 1 start, noting specific schedules for different grade levels. The school has also issued a call for increased driver caution and vigilance near school zones to ensure student safety during the transition.

Simultaneously, labor unions are reminding parents of their legal right to paid leave under the Employment Relationships Act. Parents of children entering the first grade are entitled to at least one day of paid absence for personal reasons to accompany their child on the first day of school. This entitlement is separate from annual leave and applies to both parents in both the public and private sectors.
