Slovenia reports sharp rise in population stress levels

According to the WIN Worldviews international survey conducted by Institute Mediana, stress levels in Slovenia have risen sharply. Approximately 44% of the Slovenian population reports experiencing stress very or somewhat frequently, a significant increase from 31% reported in the previous year. This figure exceeds both the European average of 40% and the global average of 42%.

Slovenia ranks 18th out of 45 surveyed countries regarding stress frequency. While regional neighbors report higher levels—50% in Croatia and 61% in Serbia—Slovenia's 13-percentage-point year-on-year increase is nearly double the European average.

Gender disparities are notable, with 53% of women reporting frequent stress compared to 36% of men. The primary drivers of stress identified by respondents include work (35%), health (28%), and family (26%).

In observance of World Mental Health Day, the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) emphasized the importance of sharing personal stories to foster an environment where mental health experiences are heard and addressed.
