Slovenia seeks to host opening stages of Tour de France

Slovenian officials are in discussions with the leadership of the Tour de France to host the opening stages of the race in the country. Anže Logar, the Minister of Economy, Labour and Sport, met with Tour de France Director Christian Prudhomme in Kranjska Gora to review proposed routes for the introductory stages.

Logar expressed the ambition for Slovenia to host the first three days of the race in a future edition. He emphasized that the economic and tourism benefits of hosting such a major sporting event would outweigh the initial investment, noting that Slovenia is a nation with a strong cycling culture due to the achievements of its local cyclists.

Further discussions are expected to take place between the race leadership and the Slovenian government to find common ground and finalize details regarding the potential hosting of the event.
