Slovenia to distribute over 19 million euros in tax donations

The Financial Administration of the Republic of Slovenia (FURS) has announced that over 19 million euros in income tax donations will be distributed to various beneficiaries on September 30. This amount represents an increase of approximately two million euros compared to the previous year.

For the 2025 tax year, there were 740,261 donations, a seven percent increase from the year before. These funds are being allocated to 7,435 different recipients, including associations, institutes, volunteer fire departments, schools, and political parties. Among the recipients, the Catholic Church and the Islamic Community in the Republic of Slovenia are both set to receive amounts exceeding 100,000 euros.

While taxpayers can choose to direct up to 1% of their income tax to specific organizations of public interest, a significant portion of funds—often between 10 and 12 million euros annually—remains unallocated. These unallocated funds are automatically transferred to the state budget for designated spending. Discussions remain regarding the transparency and traceability of the social impact of these donations once they reach the recipients' general budgets.
