Slovenia to host Zelenskyy following diplomatic talks in Kyiv

Slovenian Foreign Minister Tone Kajzer and Defense Minister Valentin Hajdinjak met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation. Following the discussions, Kajzer announced that President Zelenskyy and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha are scheduled to visit Slovenia.

The talks focused on security, Ukraine’s European future, and increased cooperation between the defense industries of both nations. Slovenia is moving toward joining a coalition for civilian shelters in Ukraine and participating in a drone agreement initiative. Slovenia is currently supporting the construction of three shelters in Kharkiv to protect civilians from ongoing attacks.

Kajzer emphasized that Slovenia is a reliable partner to Ukraine, stating that the country is not neutral and stands with Ukraine. The visit also included meetings with representatives from the World Food Programme and local organizations to discuss humanitarian aid and stability.
