Slovenia warns of phishing scam targeting energy subsidies
The Slovenian Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has issued a warning regarding a new phishing scam targeting citizens with fake energy subsidies. Fraudulent actors have created a website, subvencije223.com, which mimics the appearance of official Republic of Slovenia government portals to deceive users.
According to SI-CERT, the scam involves attackers using compromised Viber accounts to spread messages. The fraudulent site prompts visitors to enter personal information and select a bank to receive supposed subsidies. The ultimate goal is to steal sensitive data to gain access to users' online banking and personal accounts.
Authorities emphasize that official government bodies do not request online banking logins via links sent through messaging apps like Viber. Citizens are advised not to click on suspicious links, to delete such messages, and to report the fraud to SI-CERT.
