Slovenia weather shift brings storms and traffic safety warnings

Slovenia is expecting a significant weather shift as a cold front brings storms, rain, and a drop in temperatures following a prolonged period of heat and drought. Forecasters predict that while some relief from the heat is coming, the weather change may bring heavy rainfall, wind gusts, and potential thunderstorms across the country, particularly in the afternoons and evenings.

The Public Agency for Traffic Safety (AVP) has issued a warning to drivers to exercise caution on the roads. The agency notes that sudden heavy rain can rapidly reduce visibility, create standing water, and lead to hydroplaning. Drivers are advised to adjust their speed and following distances to account for wet surfaces, mud, or debris such as fallen trees and stones that may appear during these storms.
