Slovenian business groups urge swift ruling on intervention law referendum

A coalition of 17 major business and agricultural organisations in Slovenia has called on the Constitutional Court to promptly rule on the admissibility of a referendum over the country's Intervention Law (ZIURS). They argue that prolonged uncertainty hampers investment, talent retention and overall economic competitiveness, especially as Slovenia faces intensifying international competition.

The groups stress that the law, drafted by coalition parties, includes measures such as a development cap for highly qualified workers, reduced VAT on basic foods and energy, lower taxes on rents, incentives for older workers, and the removal of administrative barriers, particularly in healthcare. They contend that a quick, clear decision is essential for predictable planning and the long‑term growth of the Slovenian economy.
