Slovenian business organizations urge support for development referendum
Five major Slovenian economic organizations, including the Chamber of Crafts and Small Business (OZS), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS), and the Chamber of Commerce (TZS), have announced their support for the Act on Intervention Measures for the Development of Slovenia (ZIURS). The groups will vote in favor of the act during the upcoming referendum on December 6.
Representatives stated that while the legislation is not perfect, it is a necessary step to address critical issues facing the Slovenian economy, such as labor shortages, an aging population, high costs, and administrative burdens. Key objectives highlighted by the organizations include reducing bureaucracy, establishing a more predictable system for normalized entrepreneurs, and lowering VAT on energy products like electricity, natural gas, and heating fuels to support both businesses and households.
Leaders from the organizations emphasized that these reforms are essential to maintain national competitiveness, noting that Slovenia's economic standing has declined significantly in recent years. They stressed that the necessity of these changes transcends political affiliations.
