Slovenian experts give water‑safety advice for children and freedivers
Parents in Slovenia are urged to equip young non‑swimmers with brightly coloured, properly fitting rescue vests and to enrol them in swimming lessons early. Experts highlight that vests should be in high‑visibility hues such as yellow or orange, avoid dark colours, and fit snugly without restricting movement.
Freediving champion Jure Daić stresses that safe breath‑hold diving relies on full‑lung breathing, pressure equalisation and never diving alone. He notes that beginners can extend underwater time to two and a half minutes with training, but the most critical phase is the ascent, where fatigue can cause loss of consciousness. Daić recommends paired dives and careful monitoring of depth and pressure to avoid injuries.
