Slovenian health insurer ZZZS warns of refund phishing scams

The Zavod za zdravstveno zavarovanje Slovenije (ZZZS) has alerted the public to a wave of fraudulent emails and SMS messages that impersonate the insurer and claim a refund is due. The messages contain fake links and request personal or banking details, urging recipients to act immediately. ZZZS stresses that it never asks for bank data, passwords, or any sensitive information via email, and that official communications will not contain urgent demands to click unknown URLs.

The government cyber‑security body Varni na internetu corroborates the warning, noting that the scammers also use “smishing” – fraudulent text messages – to harvest credit‑card numbers and online‑bank credentials. Recipients are advised to verify the sender’s address, ignore urgent language, avoid clicking links, and delete suspicious messages. If any data has already been shared, they should inform their bank and report the incident to the appropriate authorities.
