Slovenian economy shows growth amid new small business strategy

At the 21st Forum of Crafts and Entrepreneurship, the Chamber of Crafts and Entrepreneurship of Slovenia (OZS) presented its 'Small Business Development Strategy 2026–2030'. The strategy includes 149 specific demands aimed at improving competitiveness, tax reform, digitalization, and administrative relief. Prime Minister Janez Janša and State Council President Marko Lotrič participated, with Lotrič emphasizing that micro, small, and medium enterprises are the backbone of the Slovenian economy.

Economic data from the Bank of Slovenia indicates that Slovenia's GDP grew by 1.8% in the second quarter, exceeding expectations. This growth was supported by domestic consumption and construction investments. Additionally, Slovenia has emerged as a global leader in pharmaceutical exports, ranking eighth in the world and second per capita, driven by major companies such as Krka, Lek, and Novartis.

On the diplomatic front, Economic Minister Anže Logar visited Serbia to strengthen economic cooperation and discuss Slovenia's participation in Expo 2027 in Belgrade. Meanwhile, the Bled Strategic Forum highlighted a shift in Slovenia's foreign policy toward prioritizing national and regional interests over 'fruitless activism'.
