Slovenian local elections: New mayoral candidates announced in Kranj and Ankaran

Political activity is intensifying in Slovenia ahead of the upcoming local elections. In Kranj, entrepreneur Vekoslav Panigaz has announced his candidacy for mayor. Supported by the Resni.ca party, Panigaz intends to leverage his long-term business experience and deep connection to the municipality to address challenges across all 26 local communities.

In Ankaran, the mayoral race has seen a significant shift. Despite previously stating he would not seek a fourth term, current mayor Gregor Strmčnik has reversed his decision and will run for re-election under the Radi imamo Ankaran list. He faces competition from Aleksander Pahor, a municipal councilor from the Vsi smo Ankaran list, who has highlighted issues such as relations with the Port of Koper and municipal spending.
