Slovenian maritime authorities increase patrols and environmental enforcement

In a separate environmental enforcement action, maritime inspectors have issued two fines this year for the illegal discharge of fecal water from vessels. These penalties, which can range from 600 EUR for individuals to 250,000 EUR for legal entities, were identified through material evidence or irregularities in shipping documentation. While these specific fines are not linked to a recent high-profile contamination incident on Izola's beaches involving E. coli, they highlight ongoing efforts to curb maritime pollution. Local marinas, such as Marina UP, have stated they maintain a zero-tolerance policy regarding illegal discharges and provide sanitary facilities to users.
