Slovenian MP Boris Mijič Faces Calls to Resign Over Corruption Allegations

Boris Mijič, a member of the Resnica party and former director of the construction firm Progros, is accused of multiple breaches of law, including owing employees tens of thousands of euros, unpaid taxes of more than €30,000, forging signatures to deregister workers from social insurance and concealing his ownership of Progros from the anti‑corruption commission. He is also alleged to have continued work for the Kolektor group through his wife’s company on the Ljubljana railway station project.

Left and Vesna party coordinator Luka Mesec said the case demonstrates systemic corruption in the new coalition government. Mesec announced that a special session of the parliamentary committee on economy, labour and sport will propose three measures: opening a question on breaches of the parliamentary ethics code, informing the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, and a renewed call for Mijič’s resignation. He criticised the ruling right‑wing parties for not acting on the allegations despite their anti‑corruption platform. Police investigations into Mijič have been ongoing since last year, but no resignation has been secured yet.
