Slovenian municipalities join European Mobility Week
Slovenian municipalities Novo mesto and Poljčane are participating in the European Mobility Week, held from September 16 to 22, 2026, to promote sustainable and active transport methods.
In Novo mesto, the municipality is introducing an improved public transport schedule to better align with school hours and increase connectivity. As part of the initiative, all SITIUM system users will be able to use city buses for free throughout the month of September. While rides are free, passengers must still validate their SITIUM cards or applications upon boarding.
Poljčane is joining the European campaign for the first time following a commitment signed by Mayor Petra Vrhovnik. The municipality plans to host various free activities and events designed to engage all generations, aiming to encourage walking, cycling, and reduced reliance on personal motor vehicles to improve local health and environmental quality.
