Slovenian police dismantle €100 million international drug trafficking network
Slovenian authorities, led by investigators from Celje, have dismantled an organized international drug trafficking network following a year-long investigation. The operation, conducted in cooperation with Europol and police from Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland, intercepted shipments of narcotics that could have reached a retail value of over €100 million.
The criminal group utilized three transport companies based in Slovenia to move illegal substances from ports in Belgium and the Netherlands toward Northern Europe. Drugs were concealed among legal cargo to evade detection.
Law enforcement officials identified several key members of the syndicate, including citizens of Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia. The investigation involved undercover measures and resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of drugs, including a specific instance where 95 kilograms of cannabis and hashish were intercepted en route to Sweden.
