Slovenian political parties announce candidates for local elections

Political parties in Slovenia are finalizing candidate lists and announcements ahead of upcoming local elections across several municipalities.

In Kranj, Karin Planinšek has announced her candidacy for mayor representing the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS). Her platform, titled ‘Fresh Energy for Kranj’, focuses on addressing infrastructure issues such as parking shortages, road conditions, sewage connectivity, and the long-standing temporary status of the local bus station.

In Koper, Peter Bolčič has accepted an invitation from the SDS to run for mayor, stepping in following the withdrawal of Jure Colja. Bolčič, a former deputy mayor, stated that the party's values align with his own.

In Maribor, the SDS municipal committee has confirmed its candidate list for the city council and local community councils, expressing support for Katja Koren as their mayoral candidate. The committee aims to focus on urban development and safety.

In Dolenjske Toplice, Tanja Strniša has announced her candidacy for mayor under the Social Democrats. Her platform emphasizes infrastructure modernization, housing policy, economic development, and increased citizen involvement in decision-making processes.
