Slovenian President and Montenegrin activists call for LGBTIQ+ rights on IDAHOBIT

On May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, Slovenia’s President Nataša Pirc Musar affirmed that hatred and exclusion have no place in society and highlighted the European Union Court of Justice ruling that struck down Hungary’s ban on depicting homosexuality and transgender people.

In Montenegro, the NGO Spektra criticised the government’s delay in adopting a self‑determination law for trans persons, arguing that existing anti‑discrimination rules are not enforced and urging the parliament to act in line with EU accession commitments. Both statements underscore ongoing efforts to strengthen LGBTIQ+ rights in the region amid broader European legal developments.
