Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša Forms New Government

Slovenian parliament approved Prime Minister Janez Janša’s fourth cabinet after a vote in which 49 MPs supported the list and 30 opposed it. The vote was notable for the absence of SLS member Srečko Ocvirk, whose voting device allegedly malfunctioned, prompting disappointment within his party.

The coalition distributes seven ministries to the SDS party, five to the NSi‑Focus block, and three to the Democratic Party, while the SLS party receives no ministerial portfolio. Key appointments include Franci Matoz (Interior), Tone Kajzer (Foreign Affairs), Andrej Šircelj (Finance) from SDS; Valentin Hajdinjak (Defense) and Jernej Vrtovec (Infrastructure and Energy) from NSi; and Mihael Zupančič (Justice), Tadej Ostrc (Health) and Anže Logar (Economy, Labour and Sport) from the Democratic Party. The cabinet comprises 15 ministers, one of whom holds no specific portfolio.
