Veldin Karić assaulted following Marsonia football match

Veldin Karić, the coach of the Croatian football club Marsonia and a former national team player, was physically assaulted following a match against Đakovo Croatia. The incident occurred in a hallway near the locker rooms approximately 10 to 15 minutes after the game concluded.

According to reports, the assailant has been identified as Dario Jurević, the father of a young player. The attack was allegedly motivated by dissatisfaction regarding his son's playing time. Witnesses state that Jurević initially appeared to calm the situation by embracing Karić before suddenly striking him in the face. Karić was found by players lying in a pool of blood with a visibly broken nose and was transported to a hospital in Đakovo for medical treatment. Preliminary reports suggest a possible nasal fracture.

Police have located and detained the suspect. Notably, Jurević has been linked to a previous incident in October 2024, where he was accused of physically attacking a referee following a Marsonia match. Both Marsonia and Đakovo Croatia have issued statements condemning the violence and expressing support for the affected parties.
