Slovenian road authority DARS warns of e‑vignette fraud by unauthorized sellers

The Slovenian motorway operator DARS has issued a renewed warning to drivers about purchasing electronic toll vignettes (e‑vignettes) from unauthorized online sellers. These sellers often add commissions, causing buyers to pay above the legal price, and in some cases either do not purchase the vignette at all or later change the vehicle registration linked to it, leaving the driver without a valid e‑vignette.

DARS advises motorists to buy e‑vignettes exclusively through its official website evinjeta.dars.si or through authorized retailers such as Austria’s Asfinag, Germany’s ADAC and Petrol (Slovenia and Croatia). Official prices are listed by DARS: weekly €8 for passenger cars, €16 for vans/light trucks; monthly €32; yearly €58.70 for cars and €117.50 for vans, with higher rates for larger vehicles. The authority also cautions that fraudulent sites often appear high in search‑engine results due to paid advertising, and urges users to verify web addresses before purchasing. Drivers can check the validity of their e‑vignette via the eVinjeta mobile app.
