Slovenian State Holding investigates Aleš Novak over document forgery allegations

Slovenski državni holding (SDH) has addressed allegations that Aleš Novak, a prominent member of the Democrats party, submitted forged or backdated documents to secure his position on the supervisory board of Mladinska knjiga založba.

Reports suggest that Novak may have submitted falsified electronic documents to prove he had resigned from his position as the head of the Maribor local committee of the Democrats party at least six months prior to his appointment, as required by law. While Novak has denied the allegations, investigations into electronic trails suggest the documents may have been digitally altered.

SDH stated that its personnel commission verified Novak's eligibility twice during the nomination and subsequent review processes, relying on the authenticity of the documents provided by the candidate. The holding emphasized that the responsibility for the veracity of submitted statements lies with the candidate. SDH noted it will propose Novak's dismissal and notify law enforcement if investigations confirm the use of fraudulent documents or criminal activity.
