Slovenian tax data shows rise in self-employed entrepreneurs

Data released by the Financial Administration of the Republic of Slovenia (Furs) shows a steady increase in the number of self-employed individuals using standardized expense tax calculations. The number of such taxpayers rose from 65,460 in 2020 to 92,491 last year. As of the end of 2025, AJPES data indicates there are 121,255 registered self-employed individuals in Slovenia, representing a year-on-year increase.

Furs published anonymized revenue data for these taxpayers, who are not required to maintain formal business books or publicly disclose financial details. The highest-earning individual under this tax model, located in Central Slovenia, generated 2.1 million euros in revenue through computer programming and consulting. The second highest earner, based in the Gorenjska region, reported 1.5 million euros in revenue, also within the computer programming and consulting sector. The third highest earner, located in the Koroška region, generated nearly 1.3 million euros in revenue from accommodation services.
