Slovenian tourism initiatives win prestigious ECTN Awards
Slovenian cultural and sustainable tourism initiatives received recognition at the European Cultural Tourism Network (ECTN) Awards 2026 held in Skiathos, Greece.
The Drava Bike cycling route secured third place in the ‘Active, Slow and Accessible Cultural Tourism – Walking, Cycling and Hiking Tourism around Culture and Heritage’ category. The route spans approximately 145 kilometers in Slovenia from Dravograd to Središče ob Dravi, continuing for 65 kilometers into Croatia, connecting various historical sites, technical heritage, and local traditions.
Additionally, the European Cemeteries Route, managed by the Association of Significant Cemeteries in Europe (ASCE), won first place in the ‘Transnational thematic products’ category. The initiative, which has strong ties to Maribor, promotes cemeteries as vital components of European cultural heritage and sustainable tourism, aligning with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
