Slovenian towns host traditional culinary and craft exhibitions
Regional cultural and culinary events recently took place in Slovenia, highlighting local heritage and traditional production.
In Slovenska Bistrica, the 29th exhibition of fermented products was held from September 11 to 13. Organized by the Društvo kmetic Slovenska Bistrica, the event featured an evaluation of over 50 products, including various breads, potica, doughnuts, and rolls. A four-member commission awarded 31 gold, 11 silver, and 10 bronze recognitions based on criteria such as appearance, crust characteristics, texture, aroma, and taste.
Simultaneously, the traditional Bistriška tržnica in Ilirska Bistrica celebrated its 24th year, attracting over 80 local and foreign vendors. The market offered a wide range of goods, including Brkini fruit, honey, jams, baked goods, honey, vegetables, dairy, meat, and handmade crafts such as jewelry and woodwork. The event also included a fruit and vegetable exhibition organized in cooperation with the Brkini Fruit Growers Association and the Agricultural and Forestry Institute Nova Gorica.
