Slovenian transport companies meet to address industry challenges
The 9th Meeting of Transport Families and Transport Companies of Slovenia took place on September 12, 2026, at the Ljubljana Exhibition and Conference Centre. Organized by the Transport Section of the Chamber of Craft and Small Business of Slovenia (OZS) and the Transport Association of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (GZS), the event brought together industry leaders, state representatives, and business partners to address critical challenges facing the sector.
Key issues discussed included the need for a predictable business environment, modern infrastructure, and solutions for the shortage of professional drivers. Speakers emphasized that reducing administrative burdens is essential for Slovenian carriers to remain competitive within the European market. Franc Seršen, President of the OZS Transport Section, noted that the transport sector is vital to the broader economy, affecting production, trade, and construction.
Marko Lotrič, President of the National Council, addressed the assembly, highlighting how rising fuel costs impact the entire supply chain, from production to consumer food prices. He supported the preparation of intervention laws to assist road transporters and agriculture, stating that state aid to these sectors benefits the wider economy, including exports and trade. The meeting also touched upon the importance of digitalization and modernizing transport infrastructure.
