Slovenian Wine Train Expands Service to Styria Region
The popular wine train that runs between Nova Gorica and Ajdovščina in the Vipava Valley has become one of Slovenia's most recognised tourist attractions. Organisers say the current season is almost completely sold out, with more than twenty trips scheduled and only a few slots left for the autumn.
For the next season the operator will add a new route on the Styria rail line, running between Ormož and Gornja Radgona. While an earlier plan to extend the service into the Soča Valley was postponed due to track works and heavy traffic, the idea remains under consideration for a later date. The expansion is supported by the Ajdovščina municipality, which has allocated €30,000 for innovative tourism projects, with applications open until 1 September.
