Slovenia's June Tourism Record Driven by Mountain Resorts

In June, Slovenia recorded a tourism breakthrough as overnight stays surpassed two million for the first time. Mountain‑region villages accounted for 37% of all stays, with nearly 731,000 guest‑nights – a 5% rise from the previous year. Visits rose sharply in Kranjska Gora (+12%), Bohinj (+10%) and Bled (+8%). By contrast, coastal locales saw a 2% decline, representing 19% of the total.

Foreign arrivals increased 2.1% to over 652,000, with their overnight stays climbing 1.5% to more than 1.5 million. German tourists remained the largest foreign group but fell 18% year‑on‑year; Austrian nights dropped 7%, while British stays jumped 26% and Czech and Polish visitors grew by about 20% each. Domestic tourists logged roughly 454,000 nights, up 1.6%, mainly for spa and thermal‑bath destinations. Overall, the first half of the year saw close to three million guests, a 5% rise, and total overnight stays rose 6% to nearly 7.3 million.
