Slovenia's pension agency discloses retirement benefit distribution

Data from the Pension and Disability Insurance Institute of Slovenia (ZPIZ) show that 635,542 retirees received an annual supplement in June, with the amount linked to pension size. The largest group – 172,622 people (about 27% of beneficiaries) – earns a pension above €1,160 and received the smallest supplement of €160. Conversely, 122,452 retirees whose pensions exceed €710 received the highest supplement of €470. Overall, roughly 53.6% of pensioners earn between €710 and €1,210 per month.

ZPIZ, which administers mandatory pension and disability insurance for more than 650,000 participants, recorded expenses of about €8.4 billion in 2025. The contributor‑to‑beneficiary ratio fell to 1.53, indicating growing financial pressure as the population ages. The institute highlighted the need for a long‑term demographic and pension policy to maintain the system’s sustainability.
