Slow Food celebrates 40 years of food justice advocacy in Italy

Slow Food is celebrating its 40th anniversary in Italy, emphasizing the growing urgency of its mission to provide “good, clean, and fair” food. During the Terra Madre Salone del Gusto 2026 event in Turin, the organization highlighted how climate crises, hunger, and social inequalities have made its advocacy more critical than ever.

Paolo Di Croce, Director General of Slow Food International, stated that the movement will continue to exist until everyone on the planet has access to quality food. This anniversary marks the first gathering since the passing of the movement's founder, Carlo Petrini, in May. The event serves as a global hub for small producers, farmers, and activists to address the political and environmental challenges facing global food systems.
