Italian wine and culinary sectors receive major awards and guides
Several major culinary and viticultural guides and awards were recently presented in Italy, highlighting trends in sustainability, hospitality, and regional excellence.
Slow Food released its Slow Wine 2027 guide, which features 779 Top Wines, with over 60% coming from organic or biodynamic farming. The guide notes a complex period for the sector due to climate challenges and rising costs, yet highlights vitality through the entry of 168 new wineries, particularly in Southern Italy. Special awards included a Career Award for Teobaldo Rivella and a Novelty Award for Nicola Siriaco.
In the realm of enotourism, Antinori nel Chianti Classico received the ‘Wine Hospitality Best Destination of the Year’ at the inaugural Wine Hospitality Awards during Milano Wine Week. The award recognizes the integration of architecture, landscape, and culture within the winery experience.
Additionally, the Slow Food Osterie d’Italia 2027 guide identified 335 top osterias across Italy, with Campania leading the ranking. Other regional highlights include local food markets in Val di Bisenzio and culinary recognitions at the Golosaria event in Milan.
