Slow Wine 2027 guide highlights Italian regional viticulture

The 17th edition of the Slow Wine guide by Slow Food Editore highlights the growing importance of various Italian wine regions. In Calabria, 40 wineries were reviewed, featuring two ‘Chiocciole’, one ‘Bottiglia’, and one ‘Moneta’ award, alongside six new entries. The Pollino area is noted for its originality, specifically through traditional wines like Moscato Passito al Governo di Saracena and Raspato. The 2025 harvest in Calabria was reported as generous with high-quality grapes, and the region is seeing progress toward the recognition of the Doc Costa degli Dei.

In the Marche region, specifically the Fermano and Ascolano areas, the guide notes increased dynamism. New entries include the Terrapremiata winery, while Cherri di Acquaviva returns to the guide. Local varieties such as Pecorino and Montepulciano del Piceno continue to receive high praise for their balance and ability to reflect the local territory despite the challenges posed by climate change.
